Multi-family residence in Vienna
The new-build on Universumstrasse is comprised of six residential levels with 46 subsidised rental apartments as well as office space on the ground and first floors. The clients, Heindl Holding GmbH, approached Querkraft Architects with the firm intention to create a passive building of high quality design. The architects had not previously been known for their experience with passive buildings, but rather for their playful application of common rules and regulations. Accordingly, the client expected more than just a perfectly formed but uninteresting passive house box.
