Westpark Education Centre in Augsburg
Accommodating 430 children, this education centre incorporates crèche, kindergarten, primary-school and day-care facilities. What’s more, adults can visit the parents’ cafe and borrow books from a little library. The architectural typology is based on a study made by the University of Augsburg and on ongoing research work. The heart of the building is formed by an open, sunken hall on the ground floor, to which the multipurpose of the kindergarten can be attached. Here, parents, children, childcare workers and teachers meet briefly to exchange ideas. Situated immediately next to this space is a dining hall, where freshly prepared meals are served.
