Report: Ski Jump on Bergisel Mountain in Innsbruck

The old ski jump, erected for the 1976 winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck, no longer met international safety requirements. The municipal authorities, therefore, decided to demolish the existing structure (it was dynamited) and erect a new one as part of a general refurbishment of the city’s winter sports facilities. In addition to its use for competitions, the new ski jump was to provide training areas and incorporate a café with a viewing terrace for the public. It was also required to have a striking, iconic character.
