Living and Working in Rosenheim
The competition brief required a combination of working space for an engineering office (2,900 m²) and living space (1,950 m²) for the employees. An intelligent, economic, “low-tech” solution was sought for the buildings. The scheme was realized to construction prices of ™650/m² for the offices and ™850/m² for the 14 dwellings. The two uses are housed in separate structures that face each other across a “village green”. The office tracts are separated from this area by a transparent/translucent hall that functions as a staircase space, climatic buffer, suntrap, reception hall and venue for various events.
