It is not often that an architect can present a retrospective of his own work in one of the key buildings of his design career. The Renzo Piano exhibition in the “Beaubourg”, which he himself has recently refurbished, forms a unity with the showcase in which it is presented. Piano was evidently inspired by the figures of the Stravinsky fountain outside. A mobile, consisting of revolving white squares of fabric and video scenes from Fellini’s film “The Clowns”, transposes the activities of the public square into the exhibition space; at the same time, the exhibits are visible from outside through the glass facade.
