The Lincoln Center in Manhattan, New York, is one of the most important venues for the performing arts in the world. It forms a small homogeneous city within the city. In the course of large-scale extensions and refurbishment measures to these buildings, which date from the 1960s, the architects set the glazed Hypar Pavilion – containing a cinema foyer and restaurant – opposite the Juilliard School. With its two-storey form, the pavilion mediates between the level of 65th Street and the pedestrian realm one storey higher around the foyers of the Lincoln Center buildings.
