The arts centre is situated on the edge of the old town next to the Santo Domingo de Bonaval monastery. The spatial programme includes a museum, a conference hall, studios for artists and exhibition spaces. The compact development comprises two elongated main tracts set at an angle of 21° to each other with a triangular atrium between them. The route through the museum begins outside the building with a shallow ramp parallel to the street. The route ends with another ramp on the roof, which is laid out as a sculpture garden with a view over the city. The building is clad externally with 5 cm slabs of granite, a traditional local material.
