Museum for Nativity Cribs in Telgte

The new museum is situated in the centre of Telgte, Westphalia, in close proximity to a number of listed structures, including St. Clement's Church, dating from 1522, and the Chapel of St. Mary (1654) by the Baroque master-builder Pictorius. The form of the new building and the materials used - an outer skin of Ibbenbüren sandstone, and sheet copper roofing - correspond to the neighbouring structures in the manner of a "coincidentia oppositorum". Access to the museum from the street is via a deep portal, opening to an ample foyer and reception area. Immediately adjoining the foyer is the space for temporary exhibitions.
