The house is clearly articulated in its layout and through its use of materials. Ancillary and service rooms are located to the north in a solid form of construction. The south-facing living rooms open on to the outdoor realm and are in a skeleton form of construction with large areas of glazing. The internal design was based on a concept of an open, flexible living pattern with room-height doors and sliding elements. The rooms are lined with birch panels. The wood staircase, with its closed balustrades, is part of this concept.
