Office Building in Zurich

The ensemble consists of two former factory buildings: the so-called "annex", built in 1856, and the "main building", with a yellow and red brick façade, dating from 1896. It was not possible to retain the gable wall of the annex, which was replaced by a bold concrete façade. The existing staircases were no longer suited to office uses either, so that a central stair and lift core was inserted to link the different levels of the two structures. The modern construction of this access core is contrasted with the rest of the restored interior with its white, vaulted ceilings and cast-iron columns.
