Academy of Arts in Maastricht
The academy lies on the edge of the old town centre of Maastricht in an area of heterogeneous housing and commercial developments and opposite a late-Gothic church. The existing academy building, dating from the 1970s, was refurbished and extended by two new structures linked by a footbridge. The cubic extension immediately adjoining the old building houses the library, the lecture hall and a café-bar. Set off from this is a studio tract, with a courtyard and sculpture garden to the rear.
