Student Housing in Cambridge

The brief required the design of 80 new dwellings, which were to be integrated with the existing student housing on the site. The scheme was conceived as a series of two- to four-storey pavilions. Laid out round a staircase tower, each floor consists of a pair of study-bedrooms with a shared kitchen. At the top of the tower is an additional belvedere space. Communal and service facilities are housed in low-rise linking tracts. The geometry derives from the interplay between the square structure, faced externally with buff bricks, and the triangular bay windows.
