Designed to respond to the rough climatic conditions of northern Norway, the cottage is bent around a protected, south-facing terrace and arches its back with a single-pitch roof against the prevailing north-east winds from the sea. The dark-painted wall surfaces on the south face absorb the warmth of the sun. With its turf plinth and grassed roof, the cottage presents itself as part of the landscape, changing colour with the rhythm of the seasons.
