Place des Terreaux in Lyons
The Place des Terreaux is situated at the heart of Lyons and is enclosed on all four sides by structures that document the social and cultural history of the city: the town hall, the Palais St. Pierre (now a museum), the Massif des Terreaux and the Croix-Rousse. The construction of an underground garage afforded an opportunity to reconsider the design of the square, although in view of its intact condition, any changes were to be made with restraint.
