Cafés and Ice Cream Kiosk in the Tuileries, Paris
As part of the overall redesign of the Jardin des Tuileries, a basic system of construction was developed for the various refreshment pavilions and kiosks. The aim was to create a building type with a uniform façade design, using standardized elements. The homogeneous appearance of the structures is based on the classical louvred shutters used over large areas of the façades. The sliding or folding mechanisms of these shutters allow a generous opening of the buildings on all sides, thus ensuring a high degree of transparency and the Integration of the architecture into the gardens.
