This small police station is situated in the centre of Tokyo at the edge of the moat surrounding the imperial palace. It serves as a security post near the main gate. The systematic yet unobtrusive use of glass allows the building to function as a link and transition between the urban public realm and the private realm of the palace. The narrow, elongated structure is divided into three sections of equal size. The sanitary zone in the middle is flanked at one end by the police office itself and at the other by a rest room.
