Despite the limitations imposed by the site, the clients required a low-cost building that could be divided into a maximum of four independent units. The brief also foresaw a functional division of the development, with workshops on the ground floor and offices on the first floor, the basement being used for storage purposes. These provisions led to the design of a simple, clearly legible structural system. The workshops have a basic reinforced concrete structure. The full-height end walls assume a bracing function for the whole building. The roof and the load-bearing columns were designed as a prefabricated timber structure set on top of the solid apron walls at first floor level.
