Station in Lyons

The TGV station in Satolas, a suburb of Lyons, provides a rail link with the airport. The complex consists of a long hall (450 x 56 m) over the platforms, a 36-metre-high central tract set at right-angles to this, and a raised walkway that links the station with the airport. The expressionist, organic architecture of the central tract is borne by two curved concrete arches that span the entire width of the platforms. The three-dimensional load-bearing structure of the platform hall is of white insitu concrete. Inverted V-shape elements support a curved reinforced concrete truss structure, the individual members of which vary in cross-section and taper towards the base.
