Station in London

The new Waterloo international rail terminal was designed to exhibit many of the features of an airport. This is reflected not only in the basic organization and the spatial separation of functions, but in details such as the broad, granite-topped ticket counters, the toilets and other facilities. The platform area, departures and arrivals halls are located at different levels. The platforms are at the top at the same level as the existing station, with the departures zone on the floor below this. Access to this zone is provided direct from street level, or from the Underground and the old station via escalators and lifts.
