Lichtenfels Castle

For only a short period in its history was this impressive building used in a way befitting its size, quality and dominant position in the town. Not every age is capable of appreciating its cultural treasures. This once noble castle degenerated into a simple storage place for grain and basket goods. Today, 300 years later, the present is able to restore to this relic of a long gone civilisation its original characteristic stature. Its role is now somewhat different - that of a cultural centre for the town's inhabitants, a function which appropriately unites the town's historic and cultural traditions in a living monument to those traditions.
