On the occasion of the International Garden Show in Stuttgart, 13 architects from 11 countries were invited to design flats for a particular housing development scheme. The designs should offer a response to current ecological concerns, and to the problem of traffic noise in inner city areas. The building does not seek to present spectacular innovation: indeed ecological building, almost by definition, excludes the reinvention of the wheel. Its inspiration comes from Le Corbusier's 'Pavillon de l'Esprit Nouveau' (1923).
