The low school building and accompanying sports hall were designed for minimum intrusion into the suburban surroundings. The floor of the sports hall is 3.75 m below ground level; here, too, are the changing and shower areas, toilets and equipment rooms. This arrangement allows a maximisation of space for outdoor facilities. A glass pyramid serves as an entrance to the lower levels, and also admits light. Steel and glass were chosen for the main structure, so as to create a lighter, more open appearance.
