Brin metro station, Genoa
Genoa's new east-west metro link emerges from a tunnel close to Brin station and runs for a short stretch on overhead tracks between the city blocks. Passengers approach the station via lifts and stairs in the synthetic stone-clad composite structure in steel and r.c. underneath the tracks. The impression of light and space at platform level is created chiefly by the fine lines of the steel and glass roof. Much of the steel construction is prefabricated and coated with special corrosion protection to cope with the sea air.
