Electronics Factory in Guyancourt, France

The basic design idea of the factory was to integrate it into the landscape. Raised perimeter banking, tree planting and a watercourse help promote this impression. A terrace links work and garden areas. Special acoustics and carefully planned natural and artificial lighting, together with the absence of an intermediate floor, lead to a better working environment. The arrangement of internal areas around a series of small 'squares' helps foster communication. Maximum flexibility was required of the building, so as to respond to the company's current reorganisation - the internal space can accommodate offices, workshops or clean rooms, by simple addition of sliding partitions or intermediate floors.
