Object+Product: Swimming Pool »Glück Auf« in Zwickau
As a replacement for the aging indoor swimming pool on Flurstraße in Zwickau, a competition-standard sports facility for swimming, water polo, and synchronized swimming was built in the Schedewitz district. The new building opened in June 2013. The planning firm Bauconzept, commissioned with the overall design, incorporated metaphors from the mining industry into its concept, reflecting the district's history for over a century. The residents of Zwickau were consulted on the name. Among the submitted suggestions, the miners' greeting "Glück auf" (Good luck) was chosen and is also featured on the building's facade.
