Chapel and Crematory at Linköping, Sweden
The crematory is designed as a complex of changing environments which gradually unfold to the mourners as they proceed to the setting for the central act in the building - the funeral service. In stages, they experience different spatial atmospheres and impressions from the wide horizons of the world outdoors to an ambience of growing quietitude and contemplative calm indoors.
