Civic Gallery in Sindelfingen

The integration of the Civic Gallery into the sensitive urban site prerequired an unpretentious design that would respect all the subtle references and relationships between the new and the old. The octagon as the missing link not only re-establishes balance and harmony between new and existing building units, but also forms a functional, geometric and aesthetic transition between the former town hall and the new building. Moreover, it enhances the urban layout and emphasizes the passage to the churchyard. The autonomous geometry of this building furthers the evolution of new correlations and helps in creating an urban composition that highlights the cultural expectations of this locus in a visual and meaningful manner.
