Main Staircase, Wallraf-Richartz Museum
Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Museum Ludwig, Philharmonie: this diversity of functions is organized into a single architectural unit, making wayfinding a central theme of the architectural concept. The external access to this building complex, connecting the public spaces of the Rhine and the cathedral area via stairs and ramps, and creating streets and squares (see also DETAIL 1/87), continues internally: the stairwell is located at the forum on the main entrance level. The staircase links the functions distributed across different levels into a four-storey spatial unit.
