Navy Workshop in Garden Island
Built alongside the Navy's Garden Island drydock, this is the first stage of a segmental long building to serve the maintenance needs of warships. The requirements for long term freedom from maintenance in the corrosive saft-laden sea-air environment and for a three hour fire rated structure, resulted in the use of post tensioned reinforced concrete for the building's frame. All of the structure is exposed on the exterior and interior.
