The new city library is part of Reutlingen's old city limits. It blends seamlessly into this space, which is defined by the almshouse, the town hall, the houses along the Echaz River, and the local history museum. Upon entering the library, one finds a large, open building with levels that flow into one another and interact fluidly: foyer, newspapers, cloakroom, children's library, market area, study areas, and the main floor for the books. The grand, open staircase in the centre invites visitors to wander through all the spaces, constantly revealing new perspectives.
