Church in Lieksa / SF

The wooden church in Lieksa, designed by C. L. Engel, burned to the ground on New Year's Eve 1979. It was decided to build a new church on the same site, and the architects were awarded the commission following a competition held the following autumn. The new building, comprising a church hall for 600 people and a parish hall for 200 people, along with the necessary ancillary rooms, was constructed on the foundation of Engel's church, following its basic form. The layout of the new interior corresponds (coincidentally) to that of Engel's wooden church.
