School Expansion and Renovation in Fleet Hampshire / UK

A prefabricated school from the 1960s was extended with two new wings, and at the same time, the existing, dilapidated section received a new roof and facade protection in the same architectural style as the new additions. The architects did not attempt to distinguish their design from the bland prefabricated buildings. They treated them as a significant existing structure with which a dialogue had to be engaged. These buildings, with their steel frames, flat roofs, smooth facades, and extensive use of glass, have aged prematurely.
