The core of the research facility necessitates the creation of a 3200 m² experimental hall, which, due to the high demands for flexible use, must be column-free and continuously supported by cranes. Familiarity with examples of circular halls, particularly a circular industrial building, suggested pursuing a similar approach for the twin institute. Initial investigations have already demonstrated that such a concept is also suitable for future expansions and additions, and can overcome challenging site conditions without compromising functionality or cost-effectiveness. The circular hall design, derived from rotational symmetry, offers the geometric advantage of the smallest possible perimeter.
