At the end of 1979, an attempt was made to secure the substantial building rights on the grounds of the Krantz Villa, built in 1924 in the Neoclassical style by architects Heilmann and Littmann, before the Munich staggered building regulations expired, in order to allow for additional construction on the property. After weighing all interests – those of the owner, the building authority, the city parks department, the historic preservation office, and the school board – it was ultimately possible in time to transfer the building rights, which were located on the southern part of the property, to the north, towards Prinzregentenplatz, thus preserving the valuable trees and securing the basic concept that has now been realized.
