Residential Building with Staircase Documenta Urbana Kassel
The communicative element of access, the path from the public area to the private apartment, has played a particularly important role in our work, especially in residential projects: In the Elementa Nuremberg project, which was realized between 1972 and 1975, we incorporated a "bridge-like" walkway on the third floor. Apartments are accessed both above and below via small staircases and "front gardens." The active areas of the apartments—kitchen, dining area, terraces, etc.—are oriented towards the access area.
