Key aspects of the project brief included: energy conservation (passive concepts), self-sufficiency (green space), simple construction, and the self-defined themes of communal living, particularly allocation and access. In the expert review process, the aspect of sunlight (e.g., south-facing orientation) was paramount for most urban planning concepts. I attempted to integrate this with the orientation according to urban planning and social considerations, which represent an important aspect of my work. Discussions with the landscape planners, in particular, highlighted the growing importance of sunlight in the gardens due to the intended intensive garden use (self-sufficiency). In summary, based on these considerations, I chose a "plot layout" that concentrates the living areas, creating a plaza-like space, and divides the garden areas into a fan shape.
