This residential complex in Munich's Schwabing district was built in three phases during the 1970s. A reinforced concrete structure consisting of fixed columns with brackets, beams, and ceiling joists forms the load-bearing framework. The arrangement of brackets staggered by half a story allowed for one-, one-and-a-half-, and two-storey rooms, as well as rooms or gallery areas spanning half the width of the slab or building. While the house and apartment types were determined in collaboration with the future residents, the load-bearing structure was designed to allow for flexible adaptation to changing needs. Thus, from the outset, the framework incorporated a number of open spaces—beyond simply providing the necessary structural integrity.
