The building site has a history. A wooden church once stood there, a milestone of post-war Protestant church architecture (architect Busso von Busse). The church burned down. The initial task was to rebuild part of the original design. The plan was remarkably simple: a sanctuary with approximately forty permanent seats and additional space for larger congregations during major holidays, a sacristy with storage for chairs, and a utility room.
