The floor plan, a regular pentagon, resulted from the site's layout and considerations for building climate (no purely north-facing side, ratio of exterior wall to volume, etc.). The original development plan called for an elongated rectangular building that would have largely cast its own shadow on the property. Following a change to the development plan, it became possible to construct a unique building that, on the one hand, casts the least amount of shade on the garden and, on the other hand, is oriented towards a small "village square."
