The impetus for the construction of the Protestant community centre came from the decay of a 200-year-old farmhouse in the area. The massive roof truss was used as the supporting framework for the new church building. It is a purlin roof truss with a knee wall, with the 1:2 pitch typical for limestone slate roofs. The sound and crack-free timber was provided free of charge by the owner. Braces were added to the outer bays for improved lateral bracing. Because the property is occasionally flooded, the entire timber structure was raised above ground on concrete pillars and a continuous concrete slab.
