The "staircase curve" was developed for a competition for prefabricated houses made of sheet steel components and was implemented as a prototype in a single-family home in Berlin in 1967. The stringer and step supports are made of folded sheet steel, while the treads are (in keeping with the times) made of teak. Design concept: The staircase within the space is conceived as a curve that, in free geometry, connects levels of different heights as a circular arc, S-curve, or serpentine line: an aesthetic and functional element within the space.
