Object+Product: International Daycare Centre Bonn

Building for children has been a key focus of the Munich-based firm Hirner & Riehl for several years. However, the competition for an international daycare centre in Bonn, in the immediate vicinity of the "Lange Eugen" (a historic building), the plenary hall, and the Chancellor's Bungalow, was something special. A pavilion seemed the ideal solution from both an urban planning and structural perspective – and won first prize in the competition. For the architects, fulfilling an educational objective through the architecture was an additional priority. The building was completed in the summer of 2013.
