The castle complex on the shores of Lake Starnberg has been home to an academy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria for several decades. As a liberal forum for contemporary cultural and social issues, it serves as a conference and meeting place for people from all walks of life and professions. The scenic beauty, an old park, and both the historic and newly added buildings provide the spatial framework for this. They convey the history of the site to visitors and place them within its new reality. This, above all, was the design objective: to find a creative expression for the new buildings that reflects the changed purpose of this castle complex.
