In Steinhausen, the rapid and arbitrary growth from a farming village to a town of approximately six thousand inhabitants within just a few years was addressed for the first time with an urban planning project. Based on a competition, a spacious centre was designed, bringing together all community spaces for social, religious, and cultural events under a single roof: places of worship for the Catholics (90% of the population) and Protestants, shared community rooms, a foyer, a community library, youth rooms, etc.
