Large Lecture Hall of the University of Passau

The University of Passau, one of the most recent university foundations, is to be built on a narrow strip of land between the road and the Inn River, starting from the Nikola Monastery. A competition was launched in 1977 to find urban planning solutions and proposals for the first construction phase (institutes and lecture halls for the humanities). The floor plan for this first phase shows an angled layout encompassing the two large lecture halls. Due to the risk of flooding, the usable spaces can only begin approximately 5 metres above ground level; the lower levels are used for parking.
