The original plan was to restore the old casino – dating from 1909 – and expand it only with an addition for banquet halls and a restaurant. The final design, which involved relocating the theatre hall to an extension, preserves the urban dominance of the original building despite its considerable size. The design takes advantage of the sloping site, which descends from the street to the lake. A portico provides access to the entrance hall from the east, from the adjacent Artherstraße, and a grand staircase leads to the theatre hall entrances on the lake side to the west.
