The building site, the former fairground, lies directly on the edge of Neumarkt's old town, separated from it by a busy ring road. The surrounding area to the west and south is characterized by heterogeneous residential buildings from the last twenty years; the large, understated facades and cubic structures of the new building create a transition to the old town. A funnel-shaped pedestrian underpass connects the courtyard, which faces away from the street, to the city's pedestrian network. While the retirement home is accessed via this courtyard, the entrance to the parish centre faces the city.
