Residential Building in Wangen near Starnberg
The plot slopes down to the south from the access road running along its northern edge. The house, with its staggered levels, follows this slope. From the open parking area at street level, the access path leads via a sunken entrance courtyard to the most frequently used communal level, comprising the hallway, kitchen, and living room. This level mediates between two more private zones: above, the individual bedrooms of the three boys, and below, the parents' bedrooms and the garden. This is visibly expressed in the building's design: a lower section of the house is inserted halfway into a higher one. Where the two levels connect, half-flights of stairs lead up and down.
