Shopping Arcade in the "Hanse Quarter", Hamburg

Capital & Counties, an English company specializing in inner-city shopping arcades with extensive international experience, had acquired several properties in Hamburg in the early 1970s, including some in the popular and bustling shopping districts of Jungfernstieg, Gänsemarkt, and Große Bleichen. However, the global economic crisis forced the English company to sell these properties. The buyer, Allianz Insurance AG, also took over the approved development plan but, unlike Capital & Counties, adhered to the ideas and wishes of the architects, who wanted to design the shopping arcade in a classic style.
