Protestant Monastery near Rödelsee

Among the Protestant religious orders is the Casteller Ring Community, founded in 1950. The women of this community live in monastic fellowship. In 1957, they took possession of Schwanberg Castle near Iphofen. Once a Celtic hillfort, then a Germanic sanctuary, and finally a Frankish royal court, this castle is today the spiritual centre of the Casteller Ring Community. A chapel, a boarding school, and several outbuildings, designed by various architects, have since been added to the castle complex, which was further enlarged in 1980 with the construction of the new community centre.
